Stormgrotta 1.5 Tent (Thyme)

£400.00

When your adventures take you into unpredictable conditions, the Stormgrotta 1.5 is your steadfast sanctuary. As our first fly-first pitching, 4-season tent, it is engineered for the solo adventurer who values stability, space, and absolute confidence in their shelter. Weighing a competitive 1.6kg, it strikes the perfect balance between robust protection and a manageable pack weight, making it ideal for extended mountain expeditions, wild camping, and trips where the weather is part of the challenge.

The Stormgrotta lives up to its name with an external 3-pole design, allowing the flysheet (and detachable inner tent) to be pitched first, keeping the inner sanctum perfectly dry even during a downpour. Its generous living space is a welcome luxury for one, providing ample room to organise gear inside or share with a faithful canine companion.

The Stormgrotta can be pitched in minutes, using a simple 3-pole method - allowing you to set up camp quickly if the weather turns. The detachable porch gear bucket keeps your kit protected from the elements - or can be removed for more porch space if required.

  • All-in-One, Fly-First Pitch: Essential for wetter conditions, the external 3-pole system allows you to pitch the flysheet first or all in one, ensuring the asymmetrical inner living space always stays dry, no matter the conditions.
  • Fortress-Like Stability: An exoskeletal 3-pole structure creates a robust, freestanding design. Combined with six strategically placed guylines, the Stormgrotta is our most stable solo tent, built to withstand stronger winds and challenging weather.
  • Generous 1.5-Person Living Space: We designed the Stormgrotta for comfort on tough trips. The inner provides ample room for one person plus gear, keeping your kit organised and accessible.
  • Innovative Gear Bucket Porch: The porch features a unique, removable high-sided 'gear bucket' – a protected, waterproof space to keep your pack, boots, and wet gear off the ground and out of the elements.
  • Durable & Resilient Fabrics: The tent is constructed entirely from 15D Nylon, providing an excellent balance between low weight and the durability required to handle rugged terrain and stormy conditions.
  • Hassle-Free Pack-Away: The included oversized top-loading packing bag eliminates the daily struggle of stuffing your tent away into a small tube, making for quicker and easier camp breakdowns.

Cracking Tent

Really impressed with the tent after it's first outing above Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands 2 weeks ago. It handled 20mph winds gusting to 30mph with ease and zero condensation the following morning. With regards the roofline clips, which others have highlighted, yes they're fiddly. My solution was to attach the first set of lower pole clips to get some structure and then attach the roofline clips and then attach the remaining clips to finish. Far easier to do this as the roofline is then under less tension when you secure the top clips. This will now be my go to tent for the Lakes and the Scottish Highlands. Great to also support a UK based company.

Thank you for the feedback! We're glad to hear you’re happy with the tent.

Fantastic value.

Spent my first night in the wild with this tent last night and I'm very happy with my purchase.
I've seen a few folk complaining about the clips for the poles being extremely tight to do up. I put the poles in place before I even pegged the tent down and it went up with ease in a matter of minutes.
It's super sturdy and the vestibule basket is a little added bonus. I had no issues with condensation at all with the inner, it was bone dry in the morning.
If you're in the market for a new one man tent, you can't go wrong with this bad boy. This is now my go to tent.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you're enjoying the tent :D

Amazing little tent

Tested this tent last night at 700m in the lakes and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a tiny bit heavier than other lightweight 1 person tents but it makes up for it the fact that it’s a 4 season tent with the extra sturdiness with the three cross pole design. Had gusts of about 40mph on the summit which were laughed at by this tent. Some slight condensation issues but I had been cooking inside it and I am 6’2 and 88kg so I naturally exhale more moisture but otherwise nothing to moan about.

Very easy to pitch, took me about 5 mins and one tip I would give is to put the poles in first and secure them in place before you even peg it out.

A lot of performance for little money

Let's face it. The number one enemy when camping is high winds that will compromise your camp. Well the Stormgrotta has a lot going for it from space, stability and some nice details. Suitable for year round conditions as long as they are not summit severe. The one fly in the ointment right now is the poor choice of buckles on the three pole crossovers. Upgrade those to adjustable straps and tweak a few minor details and it really is an outstanding choice at an unbeatable price.

opening side

Hi, I thought I would order this tent but it seems to me that the opening is on the wrong side, the narrowest one that is generally oriented towards the wind, to provide an aerodynamic structure to the tent. Moreover, your tent seems to be designed in this way since the vents are located on the wide sides and there are no additional anchor points on the ground. Maybe it could be better. What do you think ?

Facing the wider cross-pole end into the wind, with the door away from it, will provide the most strength and stability with the current design. We’ve also had feedback on the panel tie-outs and are considering updates for future versions, so your input is much appreciated.
